Certification Levels
Progress through three levels of certification, each building upon the previous to develop comprehensive expertise.
Certified Wall Installer
The first step in becoming a certified professional. Learn the fundamentals of Allan Block construction and prove your skills with your first project.
Requirements:
- Attend an Allan Block Contractor Certification Course
- Complete & pass the written test
- Build an Allan Block wall with minimum height of 3 ft (0.9 m)
- Use minimum of 300 units (full size or equivalent)
- Have an AB Sales Representative inspect the wall
Experienced Wall Installer
Advance your skills with complex wall features and demonstrate mastery of advanced construction techniques.
Requirements:
- Complete Level One Certification
- Build 5 additional qualifying walls
- Each wall: minimum 3 ft height, 300+ units
- Use geogrid reinforcement on minimum 3 walls
- Use stamped drawings on minimum 3 walls
- Include specific conditions: curves, steps, terracing, water management
Master Wall Builder
The highest level of certification, recognized by the engineering community for exceptional expertise and quality.
Requirements:
- Complete Level One & Two Certifications
- Build projects totaling 25,000+ units OR 10 walls averaging 1,000 units each
- Use geogrid reinforcement on 70% of submitted walls
- Use stamped drawings on 70% of submitted walls
- Include advanced conditions on 70% of walls
- Provide letters of reference from 2+ clients
Important Disclaimer
Becoming a certified contractor signifies that a contractor has been to an Allan Block Certification class and has been trained. Allan Block does not guarantee the performance of any wall constructed by a certified contractor.
The International Building Code requires walls of 4 ft (1.2 m) in height or more to be designed by a registered design professional. An Allan Block Certified Contractor has been trained on building walls and how these systems work, but they should not be considered to be a design professional.
Consult with your local building officials on permit and design requirements. Local building codes may require designs and permits for walls of less than 4 ft (1.2 m).
Project Unit Counting
All projects are counted by the number of full size Allan Block units used. If smaller sized units are used, the number of blocks must be equivalent to full size units.
Example: 2 AB Jumbo Juniors = 1 AB Classic (full size unit)
